Hi Patriots Home,

This new forum software has the ability to import RSS feeds. If you know of any popular news feeds you read daily, I can set it up so it automatically starts a new topic for each new story on the feed. I can put as many as you like, and have them import into the relevant forum.

If you know of any feeds you want imported, please post them in this topic.

Thanks smile.gif

Hi,

RSS is 'Really Simple Syndication'. What it means is that you can subscribe to articles on a subject. So whenever the site providing the feed updates the feed, the forum here will start a topic, with a blurb and a link to the article.

It's a way of bringing stuff you go to look at when you have time, to you automatically at a place where you go daily. Some people like the Jokes RSS feeds, some people Sports, and News is popular too.

Ricky,

I found a burpee.com RSS feed for ya ricky. It's the closest I can come to sweet peppers biggrin.gif

http://feeds.feedburner.com/BurpeeGardens/

They have a top rated products feed too:

http://reviews.burpee.com/rss/1031/top_rated.xml

I can import those eeds, and it would start each item there as a forum topic. Lemme try a test, and it'll show you if I enable one of those feeds to post in the Computer Q & A forum. I'll link the RSS topic here once it updates.

Ok, only the 'top rated' Burpee.com feed works with the forum software.

It's started two topics so far when I manually updated it.

They are here: http://www.patriotshome.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=74

and here: http://www.patriotshome.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=75

Pretty cool huh?

Sorry for the delay. I'll look at that feed to see if it's compatible with the import system, and add it if it is. If it works, which forum should I import it into?

Thanks for your help smile.gif

oops---

The other feed had something that came up on the search for sweet peppers, but the import wouldn't work with the forum software. Guess I can turn off the feed import test now too.. smile.gif

Sharon..

I just noticed you had a locked account because of failed login attempts. I've now disabled that feature.. didn't realize it was set by default.

Hopefully you can retreive your password in case you forgot. If you need any help, drop me a line biggrin.gif
